Munnar, Kerala – Tea Gardens & Scenic Treks
  • Anamudi Peak is closed to visitors from February to March.
  • Tata Tea Museum is closed on Mondays.
  • Eravikulam National Park requires a reservation fee of ₹50; ticket counters operate from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Best trekking time: Post-monsoon to pre-summer, when the trails are safer and more scenic.

Gulmarg, Kashmir – Winter Sports & Snowy Adventures
  • Union (Chain) taxis are mandatory in winter; available from Tangmarg (13 km away).
  • Snow gear (jackets, boots) can be rented in Tangmarg starting at ₹250.
  • Drung Waterfall is only accessible by ATV or chain taxis (₹2000–₹2500).
  • Gondola tickets (Phase 1: Gulmarg–Kungdoor, Phase 2: Kungdoor–Apharwat) must be pre-booked online.
  • Gondola rides may halt during harsh winter weather.
  • Gulmarg has limited accommodations; budget options are available in Tangmarg or Kunzer.
  • Many travelers day-trip from Srinagar, which has more hotel availability.

Darjeeling, West Bengal – Tea, Trails & Colonial Charm
  • Avoid travel during the monsoon season (June–September) due to landslide risk.
  • Carry cash—ATMs aren’t available everywhere.
  • Be respectful near religious sites.
  • No alcohol sales to those under 25; liquor may not be sold on dry days.
  • Carry valid ID (passport, voter ID, PAN card, driver’s license) for visits to Sikkim or Nepal from Darjeeling.
  • A permit (₹120) is needed to enter Singalila National Park, issued at Manebhanjan.

Ladakh – High-Altitude Desert & Monastic Trails
  • Pack thermal layers, fleece-lined jackets, gloves, and warm socks—layering is essential.
  • Only postpaid BSNL and Airtel SIMs work. Prepaid SIMs are not functional.
  • Roads to Leh are closed from November to mid-May due to snow.
  • Permits for Indians: No Inner Line Permit (ILP) needed (as of Aug 2021).
  • Foreigners: Need a Protected Area Permit (PAP) or Restricted Area Permit (RAP) from Leh DC office.
  • Fees:
    1. Green Fee: ₹400
    2. Wildlife Protection: ₹20/day
    3. Red Cross Fund: ₹100
    4. Payable online or through hotels/travel agents.
  • Vehicle permit is required only for Rohtang Pass, not for Ladakh itself.

Mcleodganj, Himachal Pradesh – Tibetan Culture & Mountain Calm
  • Avoid travel during monsoon (July–August) due to heavy rainfall.

  • Golden Temple: Remove shoes and cover your head before entering.
  • Wagah Border Ceremony: Free entry; arrive early for good seats.
  • Best time to visit: October to March. Summers can be very hot.
